The difference an accent makes

I just reread the title of my last post. Before I fixed it, it read: "Le petit pécheur."

It now reads, as it should, "Le petit pêcheur."

The difference made by those little marks above the e: le petit pécheur = the little sinner; le petit pêcheur = the little fisherman.

... hah & sigh... as I said, I really need to get back on the path to fluency in French.

  1. I can't figure out how to make accent marks in blogger. Ah well.

I need to get back into my french, too.

  2. Chedner to the rescue! ... unless, perhaps, you use a Mac (it's probably different for a Mac).

  3. I don't know a lot of French but I knew enough to pick up on that one. Thanks for the giggle!

  4. Il était après tout un petit pécheur en même temps qu'il était un petit pêcheur. Alors, ça marchait!

  5. I use a Mac, and I love the way it makes accents... So much easier than on a PC.

Oui, ça marchait -- et initialement, j'allais appeler cette fable 'Le petit pécheur' ... mais quand j'écris une fable je préfère être moins apparent que ça.

It may be easier, but do you get to practice your ten-key skills??
